If you are in a rush or you don’t have anything to make coffee with then you might be wondering if you can use filtered coffee as instant coffee.

This post will show you whether or not you can do it, how to do it and some alternative things to consider.

So, can you use filtered coffee as instant coffee? You can use filtered coffee like instant coffee but the coffee will likely be grainy and weak.

If you do decide to use filtered coffee like you would with ground coffee then there are some extra steps that you should take.

How to use ground coffee like you would with instant coffee

Instant coffee is coffee that has been brewed, dried and then frozen. To make coffee using instant coffee you just need to add water to it and stir.

If you try to use ground coffee like you would with ground coffee then it will likely result in the coffee tasting grainy. This is because not all of the coffee will dissolve in the water like it does with instant coffee so there will be undissolved coffee grains in the water.

What you should do instead is put the ground coffee in a cup add hot water to it, stir and wait for a few minutes, get another cup, put a filter over it and then pour the brewed coffee into that cup. By doing this you will be able to filter out the coffee grains from the brewed coffee.

However, the coffee will still likely taste weak. You could reduce the weakness by grinding the coffee more finely if you have a grinder available to you or you could use slightly less water than you normally would.

You can watch the video below to see how to make coffee in a similar way to how you would with instant coffee without using a filter.

Best way to use filtered coffee

In the future, the way that I would recommend that you use filtered coffee is to use it with a French press.

A French press is a pot that contains a plunger inside. To make coffee using a French press it is just necessary for you to put ground coffee and hot water into the French press, wait a few minutes and then press down on the plunger to separate the brewed coffee from the coffee grains then pour out the brewed coffee.

The advantage of using a French press to make coffee is that they are easy to use, you can control the strength of the coffee by pressing down on the plunger sooner or later and they are inexpensive.

The French press that I would recommend the most would be this one on Amazon.

Alternatively, you could get an automatic coffee maker. Automatic coffee makers basically automate the drip brewing method for you. The drip brewing method is where you put ground coffee inside a filter and pour water on top of it and wait for the brewed coffee to drip out below.

The advantages of using automatic coffee makers are that you can use your own coffee grounds with them so the coffee will taste fresh and they are normally inexpensive.

You could also get a pod-style machine. To make coffee using a pod-style machine you just need to fill it with water and to put a pod inside of the machine.

The coffee will not taste as fresh as the coffee that you can get from a method that uses freshly ground coffee. However, the coffee does still taste good, there are many different pod flavors that you can choose from and they are quick and easy to use.

If you like milk-based coffee drinks then I would recommend that you use an automatic espresso machine. Automatic espresso machines will automatically make espresso for you all you need to do is to add water and coffee beans to the machine and to press a button to make the espresso. They also come with milk steamers that you can use to steam the milk and to add to the espresso.

Automatic espresso machines tend to cost more. However, they make fresh-tasting espresso, they are easy to use and they will make high-quality espresso drinks.
