There are many different espresso machines that you can choose from and the espresso machine that will be best for you will depend on what you intend to use it for.
This post will show you the 5 best espresso machines to get if you like mocha.
There are three types of espresso machines recommended in this post which are semi-automatic machines, automatic machines and pod-style espresso machines.
Semi-automatic espresso machines will require that you grind the beans, tamp them and that you time the shot. This means that you will need to do more work in making the espresso but it will give you a lot of control over the taste of the espresso and the mocha.
Automatic machines will grind the beans, tamp them and make the espresso entirely for you all you have to do is to put the beans and water into the machine.
Pod-style machines use pods that you put into the machine to make the espresso. They are quick and easy to use but it won’t taste quite as fresh as with semi-automatic or automatic espresso machines.

Breville Barista Express
The Breville Barista Express is a more premium option compared to other options on this list. However, it has been very well received amongst its users and it has proven to be a very reliable and high-quality machine.
It is a semi-automatic machine so you will need to tamp the grind and to time the espresso shot to make the espresso.
However, you will not need to grind the beans since the machine features an automatic grinder that lets you adjust the fineness of the grind and the amount of grind to use to make the espresso.
To get the grind out of the machine you select the amount that you want and then you press on a lever using the portafilter that comes with the machine and the grind will fall out into the portafilter. You can then tamp the grind using the provided tamper, put the portafilter back into the machine and press a button to make the espresso.
The machine comes with a milk frother and a hot water dispenser that you can use to make mocha. To use the machine to make mocha you put cocoa into a cup, pour a small amount of hot water into it, stir it, make the espresso, foam the milk and then add it to the espresso with the hot chocolate.
You can watch the video below to see how to make mocha using a similar machine.
The Breville Barista Express also comes with a removable water tank that can hold up to 67 ounces of water so you shouldn’t need to fill it up too often. It also has a removable drip tray that lets you know when it is full via a device that floats to the top.

The DeLonghi Magnifica is an upgrade on a previous machine that was made by DeLonghi.
It is an automatic machine meaning that it will grind the beans and make the espresso entirely for you. All that you need to do is to put water and the beans into the machine. The advantage of using an automatic machine over a pod machine is that it allows you to use fresh beans which should allow for the espresso to taste fresher.
You get a bit less control with automatic machines compared to semi-automatic machines. However, the DeLonghi Magnifica allows you to control the amount of grind that gets used and the amount of water which should allow you to have more control over the espresso.
It also comes with a milk frother and a hot water dispenser that you can use to make mocha or other milk-based espresso drinks.
The removable water tank can hold up to 80 ounces of water so you shouldn’t need to fill it up too often.

The Nespresso VertuoPlus is one of the newer espresso machines offered by Nespresso.
It is a pod-style machine so, to use it, you just need to fill it with water and put a pod into the machine and press a button to make the espresso.
The VertuoPlus reads the barcodes on the pods and gathers information about the strength and length of the espresso and it adjusts how it makes the espresso. This means that it will only work with espresso pods from the VertuoLine so it will be slightly more expensive to run than other pod espresso machines.
The VertuoPlus also allows you to make 5 different espresso sizes which are:
- Large Coffee (14 oz),
- Coffee (8oz),
- Gran Lungo (5 oz),
- Double Espresso (2.7 oz),
- Espresso (1.35 oz)
You can also get the machine with an Aeroccino milk frother that you can use to make mocha with.

The Keurig K-Cafe is a very popular espresso machine made by Keurig.
It is a pod-style machine that uses k-pods that are widely available, inexpensive and can be bought from third-party sellers.
The Keurig K-Cafe features an automatic milk frother that you can use to make cappuccino, latte or mocha.
The Keurig K-Cafe will also allow you to make a number of other coffee sizes which are 6, 8, 10 and 12 oz. This means that you should be able to get full use out of the machine.

The DeLonghi Dedica is an espresso machine that has been around for a few years now and it has proven to be a reliable machine that produces high-quality espresso for a machine at its price point.
It is a semi-automatic machine so you will need to grind the beans, tamp them and to time the shot yourself. However, this does give you a lot more control over the way that the espresso tastes.
It is made mostly from stainless steel which is normally only found in machines at higher price points.
It comes with a milk frother that you can use to make mocha or other milk-based espresso drinks.
